About
World Recoded originally started out as a sandbox site that I could use to test and develop
some random bits and pieces of what ever interested me at the time..
Now it has become more than that, I have turned it into my personal online portfolio
where I can showcase my custom built computers, programs and websites.

The site itself is based (and powered) by phpBB, an OpenSource and free forum software.
Its huge modding potential made it ideal to design and create my own front page (portal)
as phpBB doesn't come with one already. For more info on phpBB visit phpBB.com

Portfolio
The portfolio aspect of this site is done using the forum structure as a building block.
Each project has it's own thread in a designated section (see links left) and any updates
to the projects are made in replies to those threads.
At the moment, commenting on individual projects is not permitted,
but a dedicated section for comments is available for any registered user.

Latest Developments

General Update
23/08/2010 01:03 - Frankish
A late and much needed update from me this month. I have completed a few new backend updates and enhancements to further improve stability and overall performance of the site, and added a new feature to my visitor tracker - the ability to turn it off! The tracker which was secretly built into the site's inner workings was performing so well, I had to disable it. I also added a security feature to it so that anyone who isn't me can't view it.

Moodle Support Available
31/07/2010 20:01 - Frankish
Another month draws to a close and more updates to announce.
I now support installation and maintenance of custom Moodle installations. Incase your wondering, Moodle is a free-to-use VLE (that's Virtual Learning Environment) available to anyone wishing to start a new, or enhance and existing educational, or course based endeavour.

Website Update Pt2
18/07/2010 21:54 - Frankish
Good evening all you happy people.. and how do I know you're all happy? Because I found and fixed the culprit causing the scroll lag on the portal. The nasty little blighter was infact the DreamHost Logo in the news feed, for some reason, no browser on earth like the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format it was saved in, meaning the image either caused massive lag while it was in view, or just didn't show up at all..

xFire Support Added
09/07/2010 21:41 - Frankish
I have now added support for xFire users!
To use this new feature all you have to do is add your xfire username to your profile and select your icon type. All the hard work is then done for you and a link to your xfire profile is displayed under your avatar when you post.
